1971 Schwinn Collegiate Tourist (Sky Blue 5-Speed)
Originally Purchased in May 1971 at Ed’s Bicycle Shop in Milwaukee, WI
One Owner and Union Built and Welded in Chicago, IL

I purchased this bike through Craig’s List for $160. Great deal, a couple of rust spots, but they are superficial. The guy I purchased it from turns around Schwinns and he said this is the most original Schwinn he’s sold. He bought it at an estate sale from the original owner’s son. He replaced the cables and tires. He greased it up, tuned the derailer, and trued the wheels. It’s in great condition for being 38 years young. Thanks Dave!!!

We went for a spin today, and it was like a match made in heaven. This will be replacing my 2003 Fuji Newest road bike, as I have learned that I prefer an upright road bike to the sport style road bike. As well, even though there are hills in Portland, I find myself using few gears. It’s the right size and I can stand over the crossbar comfortably. I’ll be replacing the saddle with a Brooks Saddle and getting new pedals, but other than that, I’m very happy with my purchase.

Yeah… No real excuse for not posting in 9 months. Oh wait, that’s right. Jenn and I had a baby just over a year ago. Maybe that’s why. Maybe I’m just lazy.

Either way, I’m planning on just abandoning using Facebook for the time being and just letting it suck in my RSS feed from here. That way, I can just use my website I just re-upped the hosting contract for!

I’m still working at LC as a Network Admin. Jenn is still at Legacy as a Nurse. We’re still hangin’ in North Portland with Hazel, Olivia, Toby, and Hairy. I’ve been bike commuting like crazy this month for the BTA’s Bike Commute Challenge. I’m even biking Olivia to preschool. Well, I gotta go get the little on up…

Check back soon.

Recently some of my wife’s photos of her breastfeeding my daughter were removed from Facebook because they were considered “obscene.” At first, I was so angry, I removed all my photos, information, groups, and applications from my Facebook account and considered leaving all together. Many of my friends urged me to stay and to let Facebook know how I felt first. So here it goes…
